BEST Things About Winter...

Although we all whine about how cold it is I have come to realize some of the really great things about it being cold in the wintertime. I know-- I'm always thinking positive. ha

-When it's cold I get to snuggle up in blankets.

-Hot chocolate and apple cider. YUM!!

-When it's cold it becomes necessary to use the butt warms in the seats in the car. LOVE THOSE!!

-Time to bring out the cute sweatshirt, coats, and scarfs from the back of the closet! so fun!

AND FINALLY.......

-When I leave my cold drink in the car and then come back a half an hour later my drink is still cold!! The ice didn't melt and water down my beverage like in the summer.

Public Transportation in Utah

Although I have been out west for quite some time I still continually shocked by some of the things I see out here. So I know you're just dying to hear an explanation of this. Well I finally got up the courage to ride the TRAX- Salt Lake's public transportation system. Heres my experience:
I got on the TRAX at the very first stop. So first a guy sits across from me and pulls out his Book of Mormon to do a little reading. Next a girl sits in front of me and pulls our her journal. When I glanced up I see she is reading the words to the song "His Hands." Then a guy sits buy this girl and pulls out his free reading book. When he opens to his page I see his bookmark is a tithing slip. Excellent. Then the same girl brings out her Book of Mormon. FINALLY a guy and his friend sit next to me and I smell the overwhelming scent of weed. PERFECT....

Then I take it back home. All the sudden there is a man laying on the ground of the train. We were all kinda confused and didn't know what to do. Finally a guy got up and started shaking him a little to see if he would wake up. He was just lyaing there limp for quite awhile. Finally he sat right up and a man helped him stand up. He was a little unsteady on his feet so they had him sit down. He did and laid his head against the wall. When the train was its last stopped we tried to get him to wake up, but he didn't respond. So we just had to tell the driver there was a man passed out on the train. CRAZY!!!!

The Holidays are near!

I'm so so excited for the holidays! Thanksgiving is tomorrow and Christmas is ONE month from TODAY!!!  I'm just so excited for everything about the holidays-- family, treats, no work or school, warm blankets, etc!

As for my life. I found out this morning one of my clients is in jail- probation violation. I have to send another client to get an early polygraph since he continues to deny his crime. I was assigned two more clients in team meeting yesterday. I only have two more weeks of my class until next year.

I also got to hang out with an old roommate yesterday, Sarah Smith. She rode the Frontrunner down to the city. We went to lunch and hung out!! It was so fun to see her again. I just love her and how funny she is. Kinda makes me miss my friends from Rexburg. sad.

Well happy thanksgiving to all tomorrow!!! Hopefully I'll have some pictures from the holidays!

Quick Update

I just wanted to leave a quick update on whats goin on- I've been pretty busy with school and work. Things are starting to pick up at work- my clients are actually starting to come. AMAZING!! ha. It's been frustrating, but it's good real life experience in the field. I'm almost done with my first full semester of grad school, so of course I'm working on lots of projects and papers. I actually finished my Policy class this past Wednesday. I did a presentation in class with a partner. I'm pretty sure I got all possible points in that class-- so 1 down and.... 4 to go!!

Ally and Greg and the family spend the weekend at Kyle and Dilys' house. We had Taylor and Allyssa's birthday parties in the club house!! It was fun, but a long day for the kids! It's always fun to be with family, but lets be honest-- it's exhausting!! haha. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving next week and having a few days to just veg!

Halloween

Well after moving I decided to go spend the weekend in Logan with my parents. It was nice to have a relaxing weekend, sleep in my own bed, and see some friends!!! On Friday night my mom and I made pumpkin cookies! yum! I just love pumpkin treats-- They really make me feel in the holiday mood! :o) Then on Saturday I went out shopping with my mom for a few things and then my dad joined us to go grocery shopping. That night I went to a little Halloween party with some friends!! I decided to try and find a costume about an hour before and this is what came of that:

So we watched Hocus Pocus and had some yummy Halloween treats!! Then we pretty much just chatted the rest of the night! We had lots to catch up on! But it was a good weekend.

This week has been very busy and full of lots of driving. My brother's place is further away from my work and school. I need to learn to us the UTA but it scares me. ha. I also had to register for classes this last week- I was nervous I wouldn't be able to get in the classes I wanted. I was a little shakey, but things ended up working out really well for me! I got all the classes I wanted! yay!! It's weird to think I already registered for my last full semester of grad school, but exciting at the same time!!

Tomorrow will be a crazy day-- I have like 4 individual appointments and a group. I have a feeling I will be exhausted after tomorrow!!! haha. I will be sure to update on how it goes!

Movin' On Out

Well- just a little update here!! I've had a lot of crazy things happen with my living situation ever since I planned to move to Salt Lake- I've had lots ot place fall through and even once I did move into a place I thought I was going to move mutliple time, but I haven't as of yet. I'll make this story short, but my need to move has become more immediate-- and when I say immediate I mean I'm moving TOMORROW!! Some things have happened with my roommate and in the end she wrote me a note saying that I had to be out of the apartment by the beginning of November. I don't really have any say in this because I'm not on the contract. I know this is a good thing for me because I just need to be out of this apartment, but it's been difficult to deal with because of the way it happened. I didn't want to have to make a quick decision and move into another bad situation so I will be moving to my brother, Kyle's new house temporarily. That way I will be able to take my time looking for a place that will be good for me! So that's what's going on with me lately!! My dad will be coming down tomorrow to help me move.

On another note- I found out one of my clients have swine flu. It seems like this thing is pretty crazy! I'm still struggling to get my clients to come in, but I'm sure it will get better!!


Oh yeah--- and I'll just put up a few pictures from this weekend!! Kendra and I went to Provo and just took some fun pictures!!

My Weekend and the beginning of a new week

Well my weekends always seem to fill up quickly. It's super fun, but makes my weeks very long!! This last weekend was spent with friends because one of my best friends, Mary, is leaving on her mission on Wednesday. On Friday night we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was like a big reunion, so it was fun to see everyone! Then we hit up a kareoke place!! It was super fun, but Mary ended up having to leave which was a bummer.

On Saturday I helped Kyle and Dilys move. Their new house will be great for them. That night I went back over to Mary's to hang out. We played some Scattegories, which is always a good time! (especially the later it gets) Sunday was Mary's farewell in church. She gave a great talk and we had fun at the little gathering afterward. It's super weird that she is actually going on a mission. I realized that this is the first good friend I've sent on a mission. I know she will be great, it's just weird to say goodbye for 18 months!

I was pretty tired today from the busy weekend, but I had to go to work. As soon as I got there I had a couple messages from one of my clients that I haven't seen yet. I have been trying to get a hold of him to set up an appt since early September. I keep getting the run around with him so it has been pretty frustrating. He went to court today and wanted me to write this nice letter saying how great he's doing. He hasn't even attended any individual therapy yet and he's missed 2/6 groups since he started. So I was stressed out about him- then I find out he was there waiting for me. He didn't have enough money to pay for the session so he had to reschedule. I went out there to talk to him-- he wanted to talk to me about everything so I had to keep trying to redirect him to reschedule. He has just been a mess to work with a super manipulative the entire time. boooo... not a good way to start off the day!!

I had my second appt with a domestic voilence victim. She was pretty fake the first time I met with her, but she totally broke down today. It was good that she was real with me, but I feel at a loss already. Sometimes I wonder what I've gotten myself into, but it's a great learning experience. I know that things will get better even though it's pretty rough right now!!
