Well- this is kind of old news, but I haven't blogged about it... or anything for that matter. I have a lot of catching up to do with this blogging thing. But the first thing I wanted to catch up on is that I got JOB!!! So I'm working as a house coach at a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens called Oakley School. I'm not working as a therapist yet, but it's a great place to work temporarily. I pretty much just hang out with the kids there and make sure they're doing what they're suppose to. I love it because part of my job description is to have a relationship with the kids, which is totally my favorite part. I love working with teenagers and I think I am able to connect with them.
Its kind of a funny story how I got the job though. So while I was taking a crash course at school I met a lady that works there. The class was terrible so we were just chatting instead of doing an activity. I was explaining how I was in a weird spot in life and what I wanted to do with my degree. She asked on the spot "Do you want a job?" Of course I said yes!! She had an application. I filled it out and sent her my resume and I was in! I didn't even have to have an interview!
So I have been working there for just over a month. It is getting progressively better and better. I have been getting to know the kids and the rules the longer I'm there. Although my co-workers are all super granola, so sometimes I feel like I don't fit in with the other staff. Like I said, it's not where I want to be forever, but it is a great for a temporary thing!
