Convo w/ a 5 yr old
So I was sitting by my 5 year old niece, Kenzie, at dinner the other night. My mom and brother were talking about my other brother's new born twins. Kenzie and I had also been talking all the cute boys in her class and her boyfriend (which is different every time I talk to her) From these conversations Kenzie started talking to me.
Kenzie: Jerilyn, are you old enough to have a baby?
Me: I'm old enough, but I'm not married. If I were married I would be old enough to have baby.
Kenzie: Oh
Me: Are you old enough?
Kenzie: No. So do you have a boyfriend?
Me: No.
Kenzie: Why not?
Me: Because I haven't found anyone who I want to be my boyfriend yet.
Kenzie: Oh...
Me: I don't have as many cute boys in my class as you do!
Kenzie: *Face lights up* "Oh, well you can have one of the boys in my class to be your boyfriend when he is 29!!"
Me: I'll be like 50 by then!
Kenzie: Well that's okay!!
HA! I just love these little conversations with her. She's so clever and adorable!!
Being an aunt is the best!!

Loving Life
I just love my life right now!! I am nearing the end of school and my practicum. There have been a few great things happen at my practicum in the last couple weeks.
1. So I will give a little background on this. So I have been seeing a man in individual therapy who was convicted of a sexual offense in 2007. He got a retrial and had the 3 felonies reduced to 1 midsdomeanor, but was still required to come to sex offender treatment. I have been seeing him in therapy since October and he has continued to deny his offense. I have been rather annoyed by this because, seriously, how do you do sex offender therapy with a guy who isn't a sex offender? ugh. So I came to the point where I had to tell him I was going to terminate him unsuccessfully from treatment because he wasn't taking responsibility for his offense. If that were to happen his PO would most likely put him in jail. Well he decided to take another polygraph from another polygrapher. Well- turns out he completely failed his polygraph and SPILLED THE BREANS!!! He completely admitted to his offense.
I can't help think about the relief he must feel. He has been carrying this secret for 3 years. That is intense. I was excited to hear the news thought.
2. I am also seeing a 6 year old little boy who has witnessed domestic violence. He is so cute and fun to have in therapy. Yesterday I had a session with him and we played with army men. He told me to be the bad guys and he would be the good guys. We battled then built houses out of lincoln logs for our soldiers. Then one of his army guys came to my house and "taught them how to be good." Then they played together. It was so cute and fun. He didn't want to leave when I told him we had 5 more minutes left. Working with kids is just so much fun, but so sad to see some of the things they have been through in life.
3. The number of nephews I have DOUBLED!! Kevin and Talia had their TWINS!! So Zachary Edward and Andrew Jerry Pence have finally arrived! (the middle names are from both grandpas) They will go by Zach and Drew. So cute. I will have to post some pictures when I get some!!! Mom and babies are all doing well and I just can't wait to see them!!!
So really- LIFE IS GOOD!!! :o)

Small and Simple Things....
So seriously- have you ever gone to buy a new ink cartridge for your printer and felt a little robbed? I mean come on- it almost costs more for a new ink cartridge than for a new printer. What is the deal folks? Well... I knew my printer was out of ink, but I really didn't want to spend the money on a new cartridge. Then my mom got the best idea ever from her boss- Did you know you can refill ink cartridges at certain locations? Well I certainly did not! And let me tell you- spending $10 is SOO much better than the like $30 for a new one. So I finally googled it and found that Walgreens provides this great service so I went out to get me some more ink so I could finally print once again!! I turn in my cartridge and walk around the store for a few minutes. By the time I came back it was done, but the nice Walgreens worker said it had just barely failed the print test. He said he would sell it to me, but if it didn't work I could bring it back for a refund. I thought "oh well, whatever..." Well he tried to ring it up and turns out the lady who did the print test had already cancelled the order so he gave it to me for free. I was slightly bummed cuz I thought I might have to actually go buy a new cartridge afterall. Well... I remembered the guy said it just barely failed, so I thought "why not just test it and see!!" So I did and............... IT WORKED BEAUTIFULLY!!!!
I am thankful for the small and simple things in life: like free ink cartridges for my printer! :o)

Families Are Forever
On Sunday morning my sister's husband suddently passed away. We had a family weekend in St George. He had pneumonia, but the doctor had given him antibotics and sent him on his way. My sister woke up Sunday morning and Dave was having a difficult time breathing. She called the ambulance, but Dave never responded to any of the hospital protocol. My heart aches for my sister and her 3 children. The love and support from family and friends has been tremendous.
In leiu of flowers a memorial fund has been set up for Garrett, Hailey, and Allyssa in memory of their father. Any contributions would be appreciated and can be accessed at any Wells Fargo bank under "David Hogge's Kids" Thank you for all of the thoughts and prayers in their behalf.
At this time I feel extremely blessed to have the Gospel in my life. It is very comforting to know during this difficult time that families are forever.

Rexburg
Here is a picture that I took of the Rexburg Temple while I was at BYU-Idaho.
Well- This weekend I took a little trip back to Idaho to see a few old friends. It was my friend Del's birthday this weekend and I haven't been back since the summer, so I made the miserable drive up there! It was great to see some old friends. I stayed with an old roommate, Sarah, and had a fun time catching up with her. Then on Saturday I met a friend at Craigos!! Oh how I miss that place!! It was great to catch up with her as well and after we went back to her place so I could see her baby!! She is super adorable and already 7 months. I can't believe it has been that long since I've been there. Then I ran over to see another friend who had just had a baby at the end of December. I guess my afternoon was full of babies!! ha. That night I took Del out to Texas Roadhouse for his birthday dinner! It was fun and delicious as always. We went back to Rexburg and saw When In Rome in the cheap theatre. Seriously one of the weirdest movies ever.... Glad I saw it in the cheap theatre! haha. I took it easy on Sunday and then drove home. Sadly I didn't take any pictures, which is totally weird for me. (hence the reason I had to put an old picture up. boo)
It was great to see old friends and be back in Rexburg, but I really don't miss it there. I had a great time while I was there, but don't have any desire to go back!! But I had a great weekend!!! Thanks for everyone who took time out of their weekend to see me!!!
